Assuming that you have uploaded your photos to your server or some image hosting sites, the usual way would be:
<a href="http://the-website-url-of-your-product"><img src="http://the-path-to-your-photos"></a>

I'm still lost... re: "Advertise page URL" What specifically does this box refer to? Is this the web address (URL) of the advertiser, ie the web page they want to open in a new window upon clicking the image? Or is it something else?
In the case of the "Ad embed code" is that what you mean by the following?
<a href="http://the-website-url-of-your-product"><img src="http://the-path-to-your-photos"></a>
If so, would the "website url of your product" be one and the same as the "advertise page url" above, ie the website you want the advertiser's page you want the click to open? I assume "path to your photos" is the Media Library address of the 125X125 square image....
Finally, why must "there must be an ODD number of Banner Ad Code added below.".... Seems to be that they come in pairs, and it would require an even number... Thanks!!!

This widget is designed to allow you to easily place 125px x 125px ads in pairs. That is the code you place in the Ad text fields in the lower part of the widget. If you want to display an “Advertise Here” widget you put that code in the Advertise page URL textfield.
To display the Advertise Here box, you need to have an Odd number of the others so that the total is even, because there need to be two in each row. Make sense?

That refers to the products which you are selling on your own. If it is an affiliate product, that would be your affiliate link. In any case and in order not to confuse yourself too much, you just need to copy and paste in the codes provided by your affiliate network, but do get the right ones as most networks provides different kind of banners.
Like justme asked. Make sense? :-)

Thanks! ...making progress... If I could offer a small suggestion to make a great product even better, I think this feature could use some documentation or Tutorial on the Resources page... (Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I don't see this feature covered anywhere in the Catalyst Cheatsheet).
Thanks to this forum, however, I think I'm getting a handle on it... I understand that in the Advertise Here/"Advertise Page URL" I simply put the url address of my own webpage, so that potential advertisers can contact me about placing an ad in that space....
Re: the "Ad embed code"... the second half <img src="http://the-path-to-your-photos"></a> is self-explanatory, ie the path to the image...
And the first part (<a href="http://the-website-url-of-your-product">) would be either:
1) the affiliate link I have been given for an affiliate product I am selling OR
2) The website URL of someone who has paid to place their ad in that square. Here, I'm confused... Do they pay a monthly or yearly fee, or do you give them an affiliate code so that I get paid per click to their site? Where do i learn about all this?
Finially, I do understand about all the odd and even stuff... that makes sense. The "Advertise Here" square open up in a new window, (as I have that box checked). But how do I get the other squares (ie the ones where I've placed the 125x125 ad embed codes in? Those all open up in the same window. I don't see a second box to check to open these up in a new window.
thanks again, Eric G.

Hmm... seems like you are really new to affiliate marketing, but never mind, it is good that you have taken the first step. Your second question. If you have signed up to be an affiliate, like for example if you have signed up to sell the Catalyst Theme, you will be assigned a unique affiliate tracking code (which is the first half of the codes).
Then, when someone clicks on your banner you have placed in your blog, they will be taken to the Catalyst Sales Page via the link given to you, (which contains your tracking code) and if they buy the Theme, then you will be paid a commission. Catalyst pays very well if compared to others. You will get 40% off the sales price.
Your final confusion.
If the "open in new window" is checked, then all your Links should open in a new window. Now you have me confused as well. What Ad embed codes have you placed in there?

That's correct, I'm new to affiliate marketing, but I think I'm getting close to understanding this... I joined the Catalyst affiliate program at ShareASale, grabbed the code for a small banner ad, and placed in the 125X125 Ad Embed Code area. Just one, so it would be an odd #. I also checked the box to open in a new window. So now, when I click on the Catalyst ad, it opens in a new window where they can order Catalyst (and presumably I should be getting paid for sales from this).
One remaining Q: Currently in the "Advertise Page URL" at the top, I put my own website URL, and when I click on "Advertise here" it opens in a new window, my own website frontpage... But if set up correctly, I presume I should put the URL of a page (on my website) for potential advertisers who want to use this square/space to advertise their product? And if so, how do I get paid for orders they receive from clicks from my website? Sorry for these non-Catalyst related Q's... any resource anyone could recommend that explains these basics?

Yes, you create a dedicated page promoting your blog. Show off your traffic stats and telling advertisers how they will benefit by advertising in your blog. You do not to limit yourself to those square blocks. You can sell banners of other sizes too.
For selling advertising space this way, no one will be paying you for clicks they get. You charge them a flat daily, weekly, monthly or yearly rate and the rate is for you to decide. As to how they are going to pay you, that will be up to you to arrange with the advertisers, but PayPal is a very popular option.
But then, so as not to get you all too exited thinking of making tons of money selling your own Ads space, try making your first Catalyst sale first then take it from there. There are many other affiliate products you can sell which is hassle free.
Best of luck.

I'm making use of this widget for the first time. It is not pairing the ads, but placing them beneath each other. I have increased the width of the sidebar to 350pixels thinking it may have been too narrow, but am still getting the problem.
Suggestions anyone?

Welcome to Catalyst.
If we can see the code on a page, it makes it easier for us to determine what may be going on with an issue. Can you provide a link to the site?

I believe if you use the code Eric gives in the link above, you will find it remedies the issue.
