WPTwin is really easy to use. Nice that it's not a plugin either. Just ftp wptwin.php to your website, pull it up from a web browser, tell it to backup the site, then download the resulting zip file and you're done. Deploying a backup site is just as easy, as long as the destination site has Wordpress installed (e.g. via Fantastico). This thing makes a backup of the entire site - content, theme, plugins, everything. It's simple in that you have no choice but make a complete backup. The only drawback is that, to restore it on another domain/site, you have to install Wordpress first. Although I'm not sure if it can backup up a wp-multisite install.

I have just been at DevPress site http://devpress.com/ and noticed "Members" plugin also on .org site http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/members/

Made by Justin Tadlock (greenshady on .org site) so if you like to use stuff by someone WP famous it will do.

Not sure about license though. They have a DevPress club, only cost 5$ yearly I think. Since plugin is on .org site it must be free to download. If you start to use it, start to depend on it! and conditions change so you have to join club for updates etc. then too bad Don't think they will but there must be a reason for those 5$. "Members will officially be hosted here soon. For now, you can get it from the plugin repository".You have been warned if you don't take price tags lightly regardless of how small. Should be possible to check.

Heads Up Bar seems to work well. I'm using it to let visitors know how to get immediate assistance while we complete some misc. work on the site redesign.

Does anyone know of a plugin, or an alternative method, to manage first time visitors - ideally to present a unique page, or a tooltip with video link capability?

Any suggestions in regards to a plugin I can use to add portfolio functionality?

I'm doing a boxing gym website and want to use a portfolio set up for the fighters pages and profiles. I was doing it with another theme, but there were a few problems with the theme, and I think there portfolio was proprietary/built in.

Here's a link to an example of what I was using:

    http://epicthemes.net/switch/?theme=ion

I was using a four column portfolio layout of the fighters leading to a page with their specific info etc.

    Google XML Sitemaps
    Google Analytics for Wordpress
    W3 Total Cache
    Widget Logic
    Redirection
    All-in-One-SEO
    Gravity Forms
    BackUpBuddy
    Akismet
    Custom Post Type UI

    What do others think?
Have I missed any important one or is there one there that I don't really need.
    Thanks.

    Cheers,
Well actually I have used all of them but W3 Total Cache seems to create problem - so I would say NO for this plugin.

We use W3 Total Cache and it works great. Make sure you don't have the gzip option enabled in Core Options > Content > "Enable gzip compression" as that can cause conflicts with certain Caching Plugins.
