Developer question about hosting - any help accepted

    Hi
I'm about to build my first website for someone else and I do not want to host it on my server. Is the standard procedure to have a reseller package from a host so I can provide each client with their own Cpanel?

I see this costs about $34 a month and just getting standard space on a server costs £3.95 a month. Is there anything to stop me just hosting the site on - say bluehost - than handing it all over to the client when I have done my work and no longer need access to the site?

Website design is a sideline for me and I don't want to pay $35 for one client!

    All ideas, opinions welcome,
    Thanks
    Ian

I wouldn't get into providing the client with access to the cPanel with the reseller account. I have a VPS HostGator account because it's faster and as with a reseller account you can manage all your own stuff rather than having to go through support to add this or that.

I design a site to completion on my server hosted at HostGator. Once the site is ready, the client purchases what ever host account they want and I have HostGator move it to their account. More often than not clients usually already have a host, so I FTP the files to their server and get everything working on their server. The client then has access to hosting support. If you host it through a reseller account the client doesn't normally get support from the host provider.

Bottom line: Use the reseller account for your own purposes and let the client take care of their own hosting. Hope this helps.
