Hi All. Here is a site that I've been meaning to post for a while now...
It was really great to be able to work with Dave Huckaby on this site. Although Dave has built a few Catalyst Sites himself, he wanted something a bit more special this time, and I was really happy to come onboard.
One particularly cool thing with this site is that we've integrated his Facebook landing application right into the site itself...
http://www.facebook.com/Grabapple?sk...51166484966823
You'll see his Welcome App operates with a fan-gate. Once the page is LIKED, the page rolls over to a second page that includes a nice thank you message, a link to his site, AND his newsletter sign-up right there within the page.
The best thing about this is that these two pages live as regular pages within his Wordpress Admin area. That is to say that he can go in and add to or edit his FB landing application pages just as easily as he can any other page of his web site.
I've been asked a few times 'what plug-in do you use for that'..? And I'm sorry to say, it's done the 'hard' way - both pages built on a own custom layout in Catalyst with gfx re-sized to suit, and all powered with the Facebook Developer Fan-gate script and a few HTML files all separately hosted. But it's worth the effort if you want that sort of control.
Dave has produced a weighty book all about getting going in, and improving your results in E-commerce which is for sale on this site. (http://grabapple.com/grabapple-guide-to-ecommerce/) I have a copy of the guide, and I can vouch for the fact that there is plenty of great information in there, and also that Dave is a long-term advocate and successful operator of E-commerce sites in his own right. What he offers is not a cheap, lightweight 10 or 20 page guide like the flash in the pan Internet Marketeers do... This is a real book with tonnes of information useful information and blueprints for people looking to do 'real' e-commerce business. The quality of the material along with Dave's experience in the field was one reason I was so happy to take this project on.
Some images for the site (mainly slide images) came through a great lady called Belinda also located in the Catalyst / E-Commerce epicentre of the world - Australia.
Hope everyone is doing well. It has been awesome to see so many great sites go up in the tread lately. Stay tuned for more from me soon...
